Sichuan Province, situated in Southwest China, is known as the “Heavenly State” because it is rich in natural resources, history, and culture. It is the homeland of China’s national treasures – the giant pandas. Come on this tour and experience the historic Shu culture, enjoy the natural beauties, play with the cute giant pandas, and taste authentic Sichuan cuisine. This tour begins in Chengdu -- the provincial capital and takes you to Leshan where the largest Buddha statue in the world is carved on a cliff, Mt. Emei – one of the most famous Buddhist mountains in China, and Ya’an Bifengxia Giant Panda Protection and Research Center – currently the largest giant panda reserve base in the world where you can pet/ hug a real panda and work as a volunteer.

Tour Itinerary

Chengdu-Leshan-Mt. Emei-Ya’an/Bifengxia-Chengdu (printable pdf flyer)

Day 1 Entry -- Chengdu

Arrive in Chengdu. Transfer to a 4-star hotel.

Day 2 Chengdu (breakfast, lunch)

Breakfast. Tour Wangjiang Bamboo Park and participate in morning exercises with local residents. Visit a factory outlet to learn about Sichuan brocade production. Lunch is at a local restaurant. Tour Wenshu Monastery. Optional: Dinner at a Sichuan hot-pot restaurant and/or Sichuan Variety Show at a tea house.

Day 3 Chengdu-Leshan-Mt. Emei (breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Breakfast. Travel to the city of Leshan by van. Tour the Giant Buddha Scenic Area. Lunch is at a local restaurant. Continue to Mt. Emei by van. Stay at a 4-star hotel. Dinner is at a local restaurant.

Day 4 Mt. Emei (breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Breakfast. Take the cable car up to the mountain. Tour the Golden Summit. Lunch is at a local restaurant. Tour Baoguo Temple. Dinner is at a local restaurant.

Day 5 Mt. Emei-Ya’an (breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Breakfast. Take the cable car to Wannian Temple. Lunch is at a local restaurant. Travel to the city of Ya’an by van. Stay at a 4-star hotel. Dinner is at a local restaurant.

Day 6 Ya’an – Bifengxia Panda Center (breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Breakfast. Visit the Giant Panda Protection and Research Center at Bifengxia Gorge. Optional: pet or hug a panda. Lunch is at a local restaurant. Tour the Bifengxia Gorge Scenic Area. Dinner is at a local restaurant.

Day 7 Ya’an – Bifengxia Panda Center (breakfast, lunch)

Breakfast. Volunteer at the Giant Panda Protection and Research Center (volunteer application and payment of administrative fees are required). Optional: tour Bifengxia Safari and visit an ancient village. Lunch is at a local restaurant. Dinner is on your own.

Day 8 Ya’an-Chengdu-Next City (breakfast)

Breakfast. Return to Chengdu by van. Add an extension tour in Chengdu or transfer to the airport and fly to your next destination.

The sequence of tour activities is subject to change.
Upgrade to a 5-star hotel can be made in Chengdu and Emei at an additional cost.

Tour Fees (with at least two people participating)

  • One adult (single occupancy): $1585.00
  • Two adults (double occupancy): $1185.00 + $1185.00
  • One adult and one child (double occupancy): $1185.00 + $1085.00
  • One adult and two children (with one roll-away bed): $1185.00 + $1085.00 + $985.00
  • Two adults and one child (with one roll-away bed): $1185.00 + $1185.00 + $985.00
  • Two adults and two children (with one roll-away bed): $1185.00 + $1185.00 + $985.00 + $785.00
  • Add $100.00 to the above child’s fee if he/she is 12 years old or older during the trip.

Registration:  $300.00 deposit per person due 60 days prior to travel.

Inclusions: Hotels as specified in the itinerary, bilingual tour guide in each city, driver with van/car/tour bus for scheduled tour activities and transfers, meals as specified, scheduled sightseeing activities, and luggage tags.

Exclusions:  Chinese entry visa fee, international airfare, airfare to Chengdu on Day 1, extension tour on Day 8, airfare from Chengdu to your next destination, volunteer fees at the Bifengxia panda center, gratuities, excess baggage fee, expenses of a personal nature (laundry, phone, mini bar, taxi for individual activities, etc.), certain meals on your own, and optional tour activities.
