Tibet Adventure Tour

Description

Embark on an adventurous trip to the mystical land of Tibet across the “rooftop of the world.” You will begin the trip in Beijing and fly to Xining or Lanzhou. You will then get on the soft sleeper Sky Train to Lhasa by the world’s highest commercial railway. Once in Lhasa, you will experience the rich culture of Tibet through tours to monasteries and visits with local Tibetans.

Tour Itinerary

Beijing-Xining (Lanzhou)-Lhasa (printable pdf flyer)

Day 1 Entry -- Beijing

Arrive in Beijing. Transfer to a 4-star hotel.

Day 2 Beijing- Xining or Lanzhou (breakfast, lunch)

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport and fly to Xining or Lanzhou. Tour a local muslim mosque. Lunch is at a local restaurant. Board the overnight soft-sleeper train to Lhasa. Dinner is on your own.

Day 3 Lhasa (dinner)

Travel through the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Meals are on your own on board the train. Upon arrival in Lhasa, transfer to a 4-star hotel. Dinner is at a local restaurant.

Day 4 Lhasa (breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Breakfast. Tour the Jokhang Temple and the Barkhor Street. Lunch is at a local restaurant. Tour Sera Monastery. Visit a Tibetan home. Dinner is at a local restaurant.

Day 5 Lhasa (breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Breakfast. Tour the Potala Palace. Lunch is at a local restaurant. Tour Drepung Monastery and Nobulingka Park. Dinner is at a local restaurant.

Day 6 Lhasa-Ganden Monastery-Lhasa (breakfast, lunch)

Breakfast. Tour Ganden Monastery (1.5-hour to 2-hour drive east of Lhasa). Lunch is at a local restaurant. Visit the Tibetan Carpet Factory. Shop for Tibetan arts and crafts. Dinner is on your own.

Day 7 Lhasa (breakfast)

Breakfast. Enjoy a free day to explore on your own. Optional: a full-day guided excursion to Namtso Lake with lunch included at a local restaurant.

Day 8 Lhasa – Next City (breakfast)

Breakfast. Add an extension tour in Tibet or transfer to the airport and fly to your next destination.

Domestic flight/train schedule and the sequence of tour activities are subject to change.
Upgrade to a 5-star hotel can be made at an additional cost.

Tour Fees (with at least two people participating)

• One adult (single occupancy): $1985.00
• Two adults (double occupancy): $1585.00 + $1585.00
• One adult and one child (double occupancy): $1585.00 + $1485.00
• One adult and two children (with one roll-away bed): $1585.00 + $1485.00 + $1285.00
• Two adults and one child (with one roll-away bed): $1585.00 + $1585.00 + $1285.00
• Two adults and two children (with one roll-away bed): $1585.00 + $1585.00 + $1285.00 + $1085.00
  • Add $100.00 to the above child’s fee if he/she is 12 years old or older during the trip.

   

Registration:  $300.00 deposit per person due 60 days prior to travel.

Inclusions: Tibet travel permit, hotels as specified in the itinerary, Beijing-Xining (or Lanzhou) economy class airfare, Xining (or Lanzhou) -Lhasa soft-sleeper train fare (one ticket per person in a four-person compartment), bilingual tour guide in each city, driver with van/car/tour bus for scheduled tour activities and transfers, meals as specified, scheduled sightseeing activities, and luggage tags.

Exclusions:  Chinese entry visa fee, international airfare, airfare to Beijing on Day 1, extension tour on Day 8, airfare from Lhasa to your next destination, gratuities, excess baggage fee, expenses of a personal nature (laundry, phone, mini bar, taxi for individual activities, etc.), certain meals on your own, and optional tour activities.
